CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A man accused of murdering his grandmother at her home was arrested in North Carolina, the Clayton County Sheriff's Office said.
According to the sheriff's office, Clayton County Police responded to a welfare check at a home on Clearview Circle in Riverdale on Thursday. When they got there, officers found an elderly woman who was dead, lying on the living room floor with blunt force trauma to her face, neck and body.
The police later identified the woman's grandson, Takeem Moore, as the suspect in the case, according to a release by the sheriff's office. There were warrants out for his arrest charging him with malice murder, aggravated battery-family violence and aggravated assault-family violence.
The sheriff's office put Moore on its Top Ten Most Wanted List. The search led fugitive investigators across state lines into Bencome County, North Carolina, according to a release.
The U.S. Marshal's Service was contacted along with the Bencome County Sheriff's Office, and Moore was taken into custody. He's currently being held at the Bencome County Jail on no bond while he waits to be taken to Clayton County, the sheriff's office said.
