$5K reward offered to find armed man who escaped police following traffic stop: Clayton County Police

Clayton County Police Department said the incident started on Dec. 20 around 11:36 p.m.

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Law enforcement is now offering a reward to find a man on the run after police said he pulled a gun on officers during a traffic stop on Wednesday night in Clayton County. 

Garon Turner was identified as the man who escaped from police on Wednesday. The U.S. Marshal Service is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. Turner is wanted for aggravated assault. 

"He should be considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach him," said Clayton County Police in their Friday update in a Facebook post.

Clayton County Police Department said the incident started on Dec. 20 around 11:36 p.m. 

Officers pulled over a car near Upper Riverdale Road and Tara Boulevard, and police said the man got out of his car and ran. That's when officers began to chase after him and report that he pulled a handgun from his waistband. 

Clayton Police shot at the suspect, whom they identified as Garon Turner after Turner allegedly pulled the gun from his waistband and pointed it at officers. According to the police department, he was able to evade officers. No injuries were reported, and police said a handgun was found at the scene.

Turner is now wanted for aggravated assault and police said he is considered "armed and dangerous." Police said Turner has several tattoos -- a breast cancer symbol and a teardrop on the right side of his face, a bird tattoo with lips above his right eye, the word "brother" on his right hand and the word "keeper" on his left hand.

Police said to call 911 immediately if you see him and to not approach him.

The investigation is ongoing, and police provided no description or other information about the suspect. Officers also have not said what led to the initial traffic stop.
