Suspects crash down door at Cobb CVS, fail in ATM robbery attempt: Police

It happened early Wednesday morning at the CVS at 2014 Powers Ferry Rd. in the Cumberland area.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Suspects crashed through the door at a Cobb County CVS early Wednesday morning, police said, and then failed in an ATM robbery attempt.

The break-in attempt happened at the CVS at 2014 Powers Ferry Rd. in the Cumberland area. The Cobb County Police Department said in a release that officers were dispatched to the location just after 3 a.m.

"Upon officers' arrival, the suspects had already fled the scene. The CVS's front doors were destroyed, and a large chain was discovered in the parking lot. Investigation revealed that the suspects had rammed into the store's front doors to gain entry. They then attempted to use the chain to remove the ATM from the premises," a statement said. "While the suspects failed to take the ATM, the front of the store sustained significant damage."

Cobb Police are asking anyone who might have information about the incident to contact the department at 770-499-4183.

In a statement, CVS said the store was expected to reopen later Wednesday morning.

"We’re cooperating with local police as they investigate this incident. The store is expected to reopen when the debris is cleared, likely later this morning," CVS said.
