COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Cobb County man is behind bars after police said he followed a girl home and groped her.
A criminal warrant claims Cesar Augusto Chavez-Niz followed her as she walked home on July Fourth.
The warrant said the girl was walking down Gramling Street around 11:30 p.m. when he grabbed her by the hand near some bushes before "hugging" her very tight. Authorities said the girl tried several times to pull away, and was eventually able to get get out of his grasp. But the warrant said that did not dissuade Chavez-Niz, who continued to follow behind the girl.
The warrant said Chavez-Niz held her up against a car at one point, then tried again to hold her against her will when she got to the side of her home. At that point, Chavez-Niz did let go when the girl's brother walked up.
In addition to following the girl, the warrant said he groped the girl and tried several times to kiss her.
He now faces three counts each of felony false imprisonment and child molestation.
