COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — Law enforcement agencies in metro Atlanta are searching for suspects after an armed robbery at a Coweta County pharmacy lead to a chase and wreck in East Point on Friday morning.
Newnan Police officers said that a man entered Thompsons' Pharmacy on Millard Farmer Industrial Boulevard just around 9:49 a.m. He then pulled a handgun and allegedly stole several controlled substances.
Police then said the man got into a silver passenger car with two other people and drove away from the scene.
The police department added the Coweta County Sheriff's Office then found the vehicle that was used in the getaway on I-85 South and attempted to pursue the vehicle.
Law enforcement later found the vehicle wrecked on I-285 and said the suspects ran away after the car crashed.
GDOT cameras show several patrol cars near I-85 and I-285. The cameras do not indicate a significant traffic impact.
Several agencies are searching the area for the suspects in the I-285 area in East Point.
A description of the suspects was not released.
