FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — A 48-year-old man is facing charges after another man died while riding his bike during a crash in Forsyth County on Saturday afternoon, according to the sheriff's office.
The deadly crash happened around 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of Castleberry Road and Kings Common Way.
Deputies responded to the scene after they received calls about a bicyclist who was hit by a car. When they arrived, they found 71-year-old Victor Godyn who was dead.
Forsyth County Deputies determined that Matthew Holbrook, 48, was at fault and charged him with vehicular homicide and DUI.
After their investigation, they discovered that the 48-year-old pickup truck driver was traveling northbound on Castleberry Road in the inside lane when a bicycle entered the intersection traveling westbound.
Godyn was then hit after passing the inside lane, according to deputies.
Law enforcement said that responding deputies conducted an impairment investigation on the pickup truck driver and determined he was driving under the influence of drugs.
Authorities said warrants were then obtained for the driver for vehicular homicide and DUI drugs.
