FAIRBURN, Ga. — A 24-year-old man is now dead, and the alleged shooter has been detained after a shooting at a Fairburn subdivision on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
The Fairburn Police Department called the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate the incident. GBI agents contacted 11Alive, confirming they were processing a scene, but they did not release any other details at this time.
On Thursday morning, the medical examiner identified the victim as 24-year-old Jameel Dickerson. His next of kin as been notified.
Fairburn Police said that the deadly incident happened at the Fairways at Durham Lakes subdivision on Castle Rock starting at 4:30 a.m. Authorities are still on the scene.
Authorities added that it was an isolated incident and that they do not believe the community is under any immediate threat.
11Alive SkyTracker flew over the scene where multiple patrol cars and a GBI truck surrounded what appeared to be a car. Crime scene tape is also set up around the car.
