BUFORD, Ga. — A pair of bodies found in a Buford apartment on Monday have been ruled a murder-suicide by Gwinnett County Police.
The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Lachica Ringwood. Police said they believe she was killed by her boyfriend, 40-year-old Jamaya Morris.
Police had gone to the apartment to perform a welfare check on Ringwood at the request of her family. A relative told police she hadn’t spoken to Ringwood in a couple days, which would be out of character, and she was concerned for her safety.
According to police, Morris “had openly argued with Lachica in front of the family and had recently made comments that had them concerned.”
Police said they found Morris in the apartment lying on top of Ringwood with an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. She had also appeared to die of a gunshot wound.
There were no signs of forced entry at the apartment.
