2013 cold case where 3 people were tortured, murdered finally solved: Clayton County sheriff

The case stems from Jan. 13, 2013, when three bodies were found inside of a Dodge Charger near Interstate 85.

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — An 11-year-old triple homicide cold case in Clayton County has finally been solved after four suspects were arrested on Friday, according to the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office announced it had arrested Kenneth Thompson, Keante Harris, Kevin Harris and Darrell Harris on three counts of malice murder each. Their ages were not given.

The case stems from Jan. 13, 2013, when Union City Police officers were patrolling the area of Interstate 85 in Fulton County when they spotted a 2010 Dodge Charger that looked to be abandoned.

When the officers got to the car, they found three bodies inside, 32-year-old Cheryl Colquit-Thompson, 33-year-old Quinones King and 43-year-old Rodney Cottrell. Through the investigation, police said they found that the three people were tortured, murdered in Clayton County and then dumped inside the car in Fulton County.

Police said that the victims were lured to a home on Magnolia Drive in Jonesboro, where they were forced into the home at gunpoint. After they were killed, they were loaded into the back seat of the Charger.

Eleven years later, the sheriff said Clayton County Police Chief Kevin Robert and his team were able to crack the cold case and receive murder indictments from Clayton County District Attorney Tasha Mosley and her team.

The four suspects were taken into custody across three states within a 48-hour time period, the Clayton County Sheriff's Office said.
