Decomposed body identified as man accused of escaping police after robbing ex-wife's home

Henry Hudson, 55, was suspected of robbing his ex-wife's home in Douglasville when he escaped from police on foot.

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — A decomposing body found in Douglasville earlier this month appears to have been a man who ran from police days earlier when he was suspected of robbing his ex-wife’s house.

According to Douglasville Police, he was found dead not far from where he ran.

The department said in a Facebook post on Thursday that the body, discovered May 19, was identified as 55-year-old Henry Hudson.

Four days before the body was found, Hudson’s ex-wife had called police to her house on a report of suspicious activity. She’d heard noises in her house when she came home and a security camera had been turned.

The unidentified woman suspected it was her ex-husband, whom she had previously reported to police for incidents including stealing her purse.

When police arrived, the post said, Hudson fled on foot and escaped into a wood line. A K-9 tracked him through multiple yards and across a creek, but eventually lost the scent.

Police now believe the body found four days later was his, less than a quarter-mile from the house he was suspected of robbing.

It's not clear how he died, though no foul play is suspected.

Authorities said official information on his cause of death would be released with a final autopsy report from the state crime lab.
