DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A man and woman accused of killing a woman and leaving her body in a burning car on the DeKalb County border have been arrested on multiple charges.
DeKalb County Police confirmed on Friday that 35-year-old Antisa Columbus and 29-year-old Eureon Phillips were each charged with murder, arson, destruction of evidence and concealing the death of Tiffany Valkoun.
Police found Valkoun's body inside a burned-out vehicle in the 4200 block of Riverlake Way on Sept. 13 following reports of a vehicle fire. The location was just south of the Gwinnett County line. Further investigation revealed that the victim was shot in the head before being set on fire.
Firefighters were the first to the scene and soon discovered the body of a woman in the charred wreckage. Investigators were able to remove the remains and take them to the DeKalb Medical Examiner's Office for investigation and identification.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said their fugitive unit was responsible for the arrests with Columbus caught at a motel on Memorial Drive and Phillips nabbed at a business that was also off of Memorial Drive. Both are now in custody at the DeKalb County Jail.
Police have yet to publicly identify the motive for Valkoun's murder.
