DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — One person is dead, and another is injured after a shooting at a DeKalb County apartment complex early Wednesday morning, according to police.
Authorities were called to the 2600 block of Embarcadero Drive, which appears to be at the Windward Forest Apartments on Hillandale Drive. An 11Alive crew was at the scene and observed several DeKalb County Police Department vehicles at the complex in Lithonia.
When law enforcement arrived, they found two people who were shot. One of them died, and the other was taken to the hospital critically hurt.
Police previously said the incident was not random, and the suspect knew the victims.
In an update, investigators identified the suspect in the shooting as 44-year-old Javoka Shumaker. He is currently not in custody.
