DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A driver is behind bars Friday morning after they were involved in a crash with a DeKalb County Police officer.
A spokesperson with the DeKalb County Police Department said an officer was driving a marked cruiser south on Turner Hill Road near Old Covington Highway just before midnight. That's when a car in the northbound lane ran a red light and made a left turn.
The car then collided with the police car. The police department says the officer was taken to a local hospital and was later released. They said the officer involved would be "ok."
The 49-year-old driver of the other car was arrested and he's now facing several charges including driving under the influence, officers told 11Alive.
