DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A DeKalb County probation officer is now behind bars after allegedly providing contraband to an inmate at the DeKalb County Jail.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, a 32-year-old juvenile justice probation officer used his access to enter the DeKalb County Jail on Feb. 9 on the pretense of visiting an inmate at the jail.
During the visit, the probation officer allegedly passed items considered contraband to the inmate, which was discovered during a routine search following the visit.
Warrants were obtained and the man was arrested on Feb. 14 at the DeKalb Regional Youth Detention Center. He is charged with multiple felonies, including violation of oath of office, crossing a state/county guard line, possession of a prohibited item, and conspiracy to commit a crime, the sheriff's office said.
He was transported to the DeKalb County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
