WHITE COUNTY, Ga. — The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office said that White County Sheriff's Deputies have seized a large quantity of drugs with an estimated street value of about $120,000.
According to ARDEO, deputies conducted a traffic stop on on US Highway 129 near Poppy Drive early on Friday morning, Sept. 13, 2019.
During that stop, deputies seized about 1,112 grams of methamphetamine and less than one ounce of marijuana.
Authorities said that 55-year-old Warren Sanders of Fayetteville, Ga., and 33-year-old Ateela McClain, from Tennessee, were arrested and transported to the White County Sheriff's Office.
Sanders was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of less tha an ounce of marijuana, trafficking methamphetamine, along with two lesser traffic offenses -- failure to dim headlights and driving on a suspended license. McClain was charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office is a multi-agency unit that consists of the following Sheriff’s Offices: White County, Lumpkin County, Towns County, Banks County, Jackson County, Habersham County, Stephens County, Rabun County ,Gilmer County, Fannin County, and Franklin County, along with the Cleveland Police Department, Lavonia Police Department, the Toccoa Police Department, the Georgia National Guard Counter Drug Task Force, the Department of Public Safety, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Citizens are asked to report any suspicious drug activity to their local sheriff's office or police department.
