DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities in DeKalb County are hoping the public can help them solve the mystery of the identity of a woman found dead in Lithonia last month.
According to the DeKalb County Police Department, a resident came across the body of the woman back on March 22 near the intersection of Rockland and Plunkett roads.
Investigators at the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office and the DeKalb County Police Department have since tried to identify her, but so far they have not been able to through "conventional means."
Police said complicating matters is there is no person reported missing that fits her description.
A forensic artist from the Georgia Bureau of Instigation created a sketch of what the woman may have looked like.
Authorities describe the woman as a black female between the ages of 35 and 45 years old who was about 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighed 80 pounds. Police said she had brown eyes, short black hair and was wearing blue jeans, a khaki-colored shirt, a black fur-type jacket and black-and-blue Spiderman socks when she was found.
Anyone who has information about a woman who matches that description and has been missing or unaccounted for is asked to call the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office at 404-508-3500.
