DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — A man has been arrested, accused of selling a female for sex, shooting her, and trying to make it look like she pulled the trigger, according to Douglasville Police Department.

Police said on Oct. 9, officers responded to "a self-inflicted gunshot victim" at the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites along Cherokee Boulevard.

"Detectives were summoned a short time later as the tale of events did not match the physical evidence," police said.

After collecting evidence and speaking with the victim, detectives determined that she did not pull a gun on herself.

Police learned she was a victim of sex trafficking and had been assaulted a few days before the shooting, resulting in a broken rib.

Authorities arrested Elmer Page and he is now facing a long list of charges including aggravated assault, pimping, trafficking a person for sexual servitude and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
