Suspected drunk driver going wrong way on I-85 hits, kills 26-year-old

The suspect was seriously injured and is listed in critical condition and undergoing surgery.

FAIRBURN, Ga. — A man driving on the wrong way on Interstate 85 in Fairburn Wednesday morning killed an innocent driver, police said. 

At around 1 a.m., police said a 25-year-old man, identified as Ramsey Hag, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes in a white BMW. He collided with a vehicle that was traveling southbound. 

According to authorities, the driver struck and killed, 26-year-old Samuel Postelle, of Carrollton, was driving a gray Nissan. 

The suspect was seriously injured and is listed in critical condition and undergoing surgery. He was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.

"The officers at the scene noted a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on and about his person," Fairburn police said in a news release.  

Due to the severity of the accident, the Georgia State Patrol was requested to respond to the scene.

All lanes of I-85 southbound were closed for about three hours.
