WOODSTOCK, Ga. — A former Woodstock Police officer is now behind bars for alleged invasion of privacy and other charges on Friday, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation

The 27-year-old is accused of illegally obtaining personal information on two people, prompting an investigation into his alleged criminal misconduct on Oct. 3, GBI authorities said.

He also allegedly made false statements to the GBI during the investigation.

The former officer is being charged with three counts of computer invasion of privacy, making false statements to law enforcement and violation of oath by a public officer.

According to the officer's Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST) records, he resigned in lieu of termination on Oct. 11, a little over a week after the GBI was requested to investigate. He had been with the Woodstock Police Department since March 2019, records show.

He was booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
