Sheriff's office arrests four jail contractors for smuggling, inappropriate inmate relationships

The investigation revealed a series of illicit activities, including the smuggling of cell phones, cigarettes, and other contraband into the facility.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Four contractors working as security officers at the Fulton County Jail have been arrested in connection with an ongoing contraband investigation according to the sheriff’s office.

The contractors, who Strategic Security employed, are facing serious charges, including possession of prohibited items, conspiracy to commit a felony, and improper sexual contact with inmates.

The investigation revealed a series of illicit activities, including the smuggling of cell phones, cigarettes, and other contraband into the facility. These items were allegedly provided to inmates in exchange for payments. The investigation has also uncovered allegations of inappropriate relationships between some of the contractors arrested and the jail residents.

One of the arrested contractors is accused of sending explicit photos and videos to an inmate and receiving payments in exchange for smuggling items into the jail. Another contractor allegedly brought a cell phone into the facility, violating jail protocols. A third contractor is said to have provided an inmate with a cell phone charger and an unauthorized staff meal. In contrast, the fourth contractor faces multiple charges related to improper sexual contact with a jail resident and the smuggling of several cell phones and other contraband.

These security officers were stationed as tower guards on the 6th and 7th floors of the Fulton County Jail, where their responsibilities included monitoring jail residents and maintaining security.

“These women unfortunately chose to be on the wrong side of the law by fraternizing with residents they were entrusted with watching over,” says Sheriff Patrick “Pat” Labat. “They will now have to face the consequences for the crimes they are accused of committing. Our employees and contractors alike are held to a high standard of integrity.”

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office has emphasized that this investigation is still active, and further arrests are anticipated.
