WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. — Editor's Note: All victims have been identified. Read the update here.
A 16-year-old is in custody after four men were found dead Saturday night in Pleasant Grove Park in Whitfield County, according to the local sheriff's office.
Authorities said they were dispatched to the park just after 11:00 p.m. due to shots fired. Upon arrival, law enforcement found the bodies of four men. The names of the victims have not been released at this time, but the sheriff's office said those found dead were a 21-year-old from Dalton, a 19-year-old from Dalton, an 18-year-old from Rome and a 17-year-old from Rome.
Law enforcement said they have reason to believe it stemmed from a robbery, possibly from contraband that was found inside the vehicle discovered at the scene.
There is one 16-year-old in custody from Rome charged with four counts of felony murder. The suspect's name has not been released at this time. Authorities said they had no reason to believe this was gang-related and believed it was an isolated incident.
