GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A man was taken into custody after a bank robbery unfolded at a Gainesville Wells Fargo Tuesday afternoon, the police department said in a Facebook post.
Authorities were on the scene at the bank located at 1368 Browns Bridge Road around 1 p.m., where they said a man allegedly entered the Wells Fargo bank and demanded cash with a note. After allegedly receiving the cash, he ran away with an undisclosed amount of money.
Suwanee Police said they identified a vehicle suspected to be involved in the bank robbery in Suwanee. They then initiated a traffic stop. That's when the driver and the car drove away from officers, police said. Authorities said the suspect was then finally taken into custody on East Broad Street in Buford.
Scene photos showed yellow police tape wrapped around the entrance of the bank with several police cars at the scene.
Authorities described the man as wearing a green and black puffy-type coat with sunglasses. He was also holding a box in one of the released photos.
11Alive SkyTracker flew over the scene hours later, where it appears the bank is operating normally. Police cars appeared to have left the scene.
