Gas station shooting leaves male victim in critical condition

A male victim was critically injured at a Chevron station on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard late Friday night.

ATLANTA — Atlanta Police said a man was critically wounded in a shooting late Friday night at a Chevron station in the 500 block of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard, SW, just off of Interstate 20. 

According to Officer Anthony Grant, officers at about 11:36 p.m., officers responded to a person shot call from that location. 

When officers arrived, they discovered a black male in the parking lot with apparent gunshot wounds to the body. 

When EMTs transported him to Grady Memorial Hospital, officers on the scene reported that the victim was not conscious, not responsive and not breathing.

Investigators later learned that he was listed in critical condition at Grady Hospital.

Grant said that investigators found that the victim had gotten into an argument with another male, which escalated into gunfire. 

The police investigation remains ongoing.
