Investigators drained a pond in Ben Hill County to search for evidence in the 2005 disappearance of Tara Grinstead.
That's according to J.T. Ricketson, special agent in charge of the GBI's Perry office.
He said they found some items that could be evidence in the case.
"But I'm very disappointed," said Ricketson. "I would have liked to find a lot more."
He also scoffed at rumors that spread around the towns of Ocilla and Fitzgerald due to the massive search scene: "We have not found a body. We have not found multiple bodies."
Grinstead, an Ocilla school teacher, disappeared in October 2005. Her body was never found and no one has been charged in the case."
Ricketson gave this account of the search:
He said about a week ago, a tipster contacted the GBI with what he called "fairly credible information" in the case.
The tip led investigators to some property in Fitzgerald, in Ben Hill County.
That's just a few miles from Grinstead's former home in Ocilla, in Irwin County.
Investigators developed enough information to request a search warrant, which was approved by a Superior Court judge Monday.
With the help of the state Department of Natural Resources, the state patrol, Ben Hill sheriff and other agencies, they search the small pond there using a mini-submersible and a dive team.
The search continued to late Monday night and resumed early Tuesday.
After finding some items in the pond, the GBI requested a second search warrant to drain the pond.
The search wrapped up late Tuesday afternoon.
Ricketson would not describe the tips or the evidence that was found.
He said the owner of the property, off Satilla Street, near Fitzgerald, has no known connection to Grinstead.
Ricketson says the GBI will analyze the evidence before deciding how to proceed further.
"It's an old case, but it's not a cold case," he said.
Grinstead was 31 years old, a high school teacher, and local beauty queen.
In 2011, the Irwin County sheriff said he got a tip telling him to search near a bridge on Reedy Creek.
He says a dive team and deputies searched for more than four hours and found nothing.
