A Georgia State Trooper shot a 16-year-old suspect who was allegedly driving a stolen pickup truck.
It happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. in Gwinnett County.
According to the press release, the trooper attempted to stop the pickup truck since the headlights were not on. During that process, a chase ensued until the driver reached a dead-end on Oakbrooke Parkway and Indian Trail Road in Norcross.
Authorities said that is when the 16-year-old teenager stopped and backed-up towards the trooper when he exited his patrol car. The trooper fired his gun in the midst of the incident and hit the driver.
Another passenger in the suspect's car ran away from the scene and has not been caught. The 16-year-old driver was taken to Northside Hospital Gwinnett for a non-life threatening injury.
Investigators learned that the suspect was driving a stolen car from Gwinnett County.
No troopers or officers were injured during the incident.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is looking into the case.
