Georgia Tech Housing employee charged with sexual battery

Last Wednesday, Georgia Tech Police arrested a 52-year-old man employed by the school’s  Department of Housing and charged him with sexual battery and aggravated sexual battery.

ATLANTA – Last Wednesday, Georgia Tech Police arrested a 52-year-old man employed by the school’s Department of Housing and charged him with sexual battery and aggravated sexual battery.

A police report indicated the associated incident occurred between 52-year-old Ernest Olivares of Powder Springs and a female subordinate employee on campus on the afternoon of June 8. No students were involved in the incident.

Georgia Tech Police said they were notified of a sexual harassment report on June 20, and began their investigation at that point. Olivares was arrested on June 22, and placed in the custody of Fulton County. He is presently being held at the Fulton County Jail.

The school has placed Olivares on administrative leave, and in a statement said they would not be able to offer further details regarding his personnel status.
