ATLANTA — Atlanta Police are looking into the circumstances of deadly gunfire where two brothers were shot, killing one of them Friday night.
APD said it was called to the 2800 block of Greenbriar Parkway to respond to the scene. Police were seen at The Retreat at Greenbriar.
Officers said first responders pronounced one man, who they identified as 31-year-old Tabari Walters, dead at the scene, while the other man was taken to the hospital for his injuries. 11Alive later learned from police that the two victims are brothers.
One woman told 11Alive she saw a man’s body pulled right out of the woods with paramedics working on him right here.
“I saw the police going off into the woods and about 10 minutes later they brought a body out and laid it on the ground. Its so much crime and stuff going on over here to where we are just throwing our hands up and praying because its getting terrible," she said.
Police said it appears there was a fight that started earlier in the day and continued into the evening. Officers are reviewing video for the suspects' descriptions; they are looking for four to five people who ran off after the shooting.
For residents, the shooting has left them feeling uneasy and sad.
“Put the guns down, y'all! Please stop the violence. It's not worth it. It's not worth it at all," another resident told 11Alive.
11Alive is working to learn more about what happened.
