Gunman in Arkansas grocery store shooting faces 4 capital murder, 10 attempted capital murder charges

The suspected gunman involved in the mass shooting at the Mad Butcher in Fordyce pleaded not guilty at his court hearing on Tuesday afternoon.

FORDYCE, Ark. — Days after four people were killed and several more were injured at an Arkansas town's grocery store when a gunman began shooting at people, the gunman pleaded not guilty to his charges while at his court hearing on Tuesday afternoon.

44-year-old Travis Posey, the suspected gunman, entered a not guilty plea for his involvement in the deadly mass shooting at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce.

He faces four counts of capital murder and 10 counts of attempted capital murder and could face up to life in prison or even the death penalty if convicted. However, he will be offered two public defenders due to charges of capital murder involving the death penalty

Due to a safety risk to the community, the state requested that Posey have no bond due to the capital murder charges, and the judge granted that decision.

Posey will remain at the Ouachita County Jail and any future court appearances will be held in Dallas County.

No information has been released yet regarding dates for future hearings.
