ATLANTA — A man was arrested last week in Gwinnett County after allegedly returning to the scene of the carjacking he had just committed while officers were still there.
On May 9, Gwinnett County Police said officers responded to a carjacking at an assisted living facility on Grayson Highway.
The victim said she was approached by a man with a gun while walking from her car to her apartment, and he stole her purse along with the keys to her vehicle.
While on the scene, officers said they noticed another vehicle that was suspiciously parked next to where the victim's car had been sitting. Inside that car were things such as latex gloves and tools police said were commonly associated with carjackings.
Furthermore, the vehicle's owner had an active warrant for his arrest.
Luckily for police, the suspect wound up returning to the scene of the crime in an Uber. Then he was arrested.
After talking with the Uber driver, police determined where the suspect was picked up and found the victim's stolen car a few houses away.
The suspect has been charged with carjacking, armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
