SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — A high-speed chase during rush hour traffic came to a dramatic end in Sandy Springs on Monday morning.

Around 9:22 a.m., Sandy Springs Police were notified that a driver fleeing from Roswell Police was headed into their jurisdiction. Roswell Police said the incident started when one of its officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle for a moving violation. The suspect then fled from the officer, who did not pursue the person.

Officers quickly responded to GA 400 southbound and saw the suspected vehicle traveling at a high speed through Sandy Springs. Officers tried to stop the driver, but they refused to stop and continued to flee onto I-285 westbound, police said.

After a brief pursuit, officers performed a PIT maneuver on the vehicle, causing it to crash into the retainer wall. The driver was taken into custody and subsequently charged.

Police have not identified the suspect or their charges at this time.
