NORCROSS, Ga. — A 28-year-old man is now behind bars after police said he allegedly shot and killed a man Sunday night in unincorporated Norcross.
In a release, Gwinnett County Police said they responded to multiple reports of a "discharging firearm" in the area of Pirkle Road.
On Monday, police released a statement naming Shaheed Abdullah Al-Ameen, 28, as the suspect in the case. He was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. on Monday, according to authorities
"After arriving on scene and canvassing the area, they located the body of a man in between the 1700 building of Pirkle Road and another building on Hampton Ridge Road," a statement said. According to the statement, police believe there was an "exchange of gunfire between at least two individuals just before the 911 calls began to come in."
Al-Ameen is being charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies.
Authorities still have not released the name of the victim because they are still notifying the next of kin.
