Man shot, killed in parking lot of extended stay hotel, Gwinnett Police say

Here's what we know.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a murder that happened in the parking lot of an extended stay hotel in Duluth Wednesday night.

Authorities said it happened outside a Studio 6 hotel along the 2300-block Stephens Center Drive. Officers responded to the hotel at 6 p.m. and found a man dead with a gunshot wound in the hotel's parking lot, Gwinnett County Police Corporal Ryan Winderweedle said. 

"The officers on scene detained a person of interest that was in the area," Winderweedle said. "The crime scene unit is processing the scene and homicide detectives are conducting interviews." 

Police have not yet released the identity of the man. Authorities have not identified a motive for the shooting or what led up to the incident.
