ROME, Ga. — A suspect is in custody as police investigate a homicide in a Rome subdivision on Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities.
Rome Police said that around 3:51 p.m., emergency personnel were sent to the 300 block of Reynolds Street. When officers arrived, they found a 56-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound sitting inside a vehicle.
Shortly after that, Rome Police detained a 21-year-old man matching the description of the suspect given by eyewitnesses. The suspect has been charged with aggravated assault and murder.
Police said that as the investigation is ongoing, names of the person killed or the suspect will not be released at this time.
