Witnesses were holding the suspect down when police arrived.

SNELLVILLE, Ga. — One woman is dead after a shooting at a graduation party Saturday night in unincorporated Snellville, according to Gwinnett County Police.

This happened at the Queen's Event Venue on Stone Mountain Highway around 7:30 p.m., according to police.

One witness, Ruxi Mardare, said she was having a great time at a friend's graduation party when a woman seated at the table behind her was gunned down.

"Once I heard the gunshots, I looked back, and I don't see her anymore, so then I just go underneath the table," Mardare said. "My friend was telling me to get up. I got up, and I could just tell she was dead on the scene."

When police got there, the woman was suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Police said the shooting appeared to be a domestic incident. Witnesses were holding the suspect down when police arrived.

"I've gotten into arguments before, and never have I thought to take someone's life, especially at a graduation party when you're supposed to be celebrating," Mardare said.
