Man takes his life after barricading himself inside Conyers hotel from deputies: Rockdale County Sheriff's Office

ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — A man is dead following an hours-long standoff between him and the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office that began Wednesday night. 

Deputies were gathered at an extended stay hotel in Conyers on Wednesday night after a murder suspect barricaded himself inside a room.

According to the US Marshals, they were attempting to serve a felony murder warrant when law enforcement responded after shots were fired at the hotel. The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office said that no law enforcement officers were shot or injured but that the suspect had taken his own life. 

The US Marshals said the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office SWAT team is leading the execution of the operation at the Horizon Extended Stay Conyers on Old McDonough Highway.
