ATLANTA — A Jackson man has been arrested in connection to a deadly hit-and-run last Friday night, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Nathan Upchurch, 50, faces felony murder and hit-and-run charges in connection to 50-year-old Brooke Sides' death, the GBI said.
On Monday, the Butts County Sheriff's Office requested the GBI to assist in Sides' death investigation that took place on Oct. 20 around 11:40 p.m. in Jackson, Georgia.
Authorities said Butts County 911 dispatch center received a call about a woman, later identified as Sides, who was found dead in her driveway on Watkins Park and Pool Road. Deputies responded to the home and found Sides dead.
According to the GBI's preliminary investigation, Sides had gone out with Upchurch and they returned home after they had been arguing. That's when authorities said Upchurch ran over Sides as he was leaving.
Upchurch was booked into the Butts County Jail.
The GBI said its investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 478-445-5102 or the GBI regional investigative office in Milledgeville at 478-445-4173. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by calling 1-800-597-TIPS (8477) or online here.
