Man accused of opening fire on ex-girlfriend, her children caught in Clayton County

The suspect was named to the county's 'most wanted' list over the weekend with a stern warning to anyone that helped him.

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A man who investigator say opened fire on his ex-girlfriend narrowly missing the woman and her children has been captured by Clayton County deputies.

In a message from the Clayton County Sheriff's Office, authorities said Joshua Rashad Miller ran when inside a home from the porch as he saw members of their fugitive squad approach. The sheriff's office statement said he "wisely" decided to come out with his hands up minutes later.

Just days earlier, Miller was named to the sheriff's office Top 10 list of fugitives in the county after authorities said he went to his ex-girlfriend's house and pointed a gun at her and her children. He then allegedly made threats and fired shots.

Miller now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aiming a pistol at another, cruelty to children and discharging a firearm on another person's property.

During their search for Miller, the sheriff's office also issued a warning to anyone who may have been harboring him: "Give him up or face the wall beside him."

Authorities haven't said whether anyone else was arrested during his capture. However, Sheriff Victor Hill's note added that Miller was "on his way to 'The Hill-ton' where he will learn to respect our women and children'."
