COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A 26-year-old man learned his sentence after was found guilty of shooting his close friend to death in Cobb County four years ago, according to District Attorney Flynn Broady Jr.

Kehari Yarber will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional five years after he was convicted on murder charges.

The deadly incident happened on October 31, 2020, when police found a man's body in the woods between the Stratford Ridge apartments and Arium at Bentley apartments. Police later determined Blake Porter, 20, was shot to death, the district attorney said.

Surveillance footage from one of the nearby complexes and a gas station showed the moments when Porter was gunned down. Seconds into the video, Porter and the shooter entered each other's path when two muzzled flashes can be seen, the district attorney's office described the video.

According to District Attorney Broady, investigators were later able to determine Yarber as the shooter after checking surveillance footage. A release from the office said that family members described Yarber and Porter as close friends.

Yarber was officially arrested weeks after the deadly incident. A Cobb County jury found Yarber guilty on all counts last week.

“I am grateful for the dedication of law enforcement and the thorough work of our prosecutors in securing justice for Blake Porter and his loved ones. Our office will continue to pursue justice for victims and hold those who commit such senseless acts of violence accountable," said District Attorney Broady.
