LaGrange Police Lieutenant accused of stealing more than $7,000 from an elderly person, using for personal use: GBI

LAGRANGE, Ga. — A LaGrange Police Department Lieutenant has been arrested after allegedly stealing thousands from an elderly person. 

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, LaGrange Police Lt. Joshua Clower, 43, has been arrested and is charged with theft by taking, theft by conversion and exploitation of an elderly person over the age of 65. 

This all stems from a theft investigation that started over the summer. On June 25, the GBI was requested by the LaGrange Police Department to investigate an allegation that Lt. Clower committed a theft. 

The investigation indicated that Lt. Clower stole more than $7,000 from an elderly person's checking account and used the money for his own personal use, the GBI said. 

Clower has been booked into the Troup County Jail. The GBI is continuing its independent investigation. Once the investigation is completed, the case file will be given to the Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
