'Love & Hip Hop Atlanta' star Karen King arrested on fraud charges

Reality TV star Karen King, from "Love and Hip Hop Atlanta" was arrested and accused of participating in a fraud ring to make purchases at a high-end Atlanta retailer.

ATLANTA -- A reality star on a popular VH1 TV show is in trouble with the law again.

Police say Karen King, of "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" fame, is accused of participating in a fraud ring where employees at the store "knowingly rang sales that were being paid for with fraudulent credit cards and received kickbacks."

According to police records, August 2015 video surveillance from an Atlanta Saks Fifth Avenue shows King entering the high-end retail store and present an employee with false identification.

Police say she and two other employees would split high-end merchandise and cash, and used stolen identification in the process.

Authorities say King was arrested at an Atlanta club, and has been charged with 1st Degree Forgery, Theft By Taking and Financial Transaction Fraud, and authorities say she was given a $30,000 bond.

This is not the first time King has been in trouble with the law, though.

In 2012, King was featured 11Alive's "Fugitive of the Week" segment and on the "America's Most Wanted" TV show. At the time, she was accused of being involved in the severe beating of an ex-boyfriend at a Canton, Ga. home and was wanted by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office in connection to the plot. Her son, Alonte Smith, and his brother, Lyndon Smith, were also arrested during the investigation.

King was later arrested in Vero Beach, Fla. in April 2013.

The California-native joined the cast of the fifth season of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta -- filmed locally -- in April where she is billed as a "momager' to her sons and rappers.
