MCDONOUGH, Ga. — A wanted murder suspect from Bibb County led law enforcement on a chase through Georgia counties on Friday before ultimately dying by suicide, Spalding County Sheriff Darrell Dix said.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, 44-year-old Wayne Anthony Fuller Jr. was a person of interest and wanted in connection to the shooting death of Cotina Louise Fuller earlier in the day around 11:07 a.m. He then drove away from the scene in a gold SUV. That's when the Spalding County Sheriff's Office spotted Wayne Anthony Fuller's car, and a chase ensued.

Dix said that a Spalding County deputy was alerted by a Flock Camera that there was a man wanted for murder out of Bibb County, and the deputy tried to pull the man over. A chase ensued from Spalding County into Henry County, where a deputy with the Spalding County Sheriff's Office performed a PIT maneuver to stop the car.

Shortly after the PIT maneuver, Dix said the suspect died by suicide after he shot himself in the head.

According to a report from WMAZ, 11Alive's sister station, it appears Wayne Anthony Fuller and Cotina Louise Fuller were husband and wife.

"Our prayers are with the family of the victim that was murdered in Bibb County. Hopefully they will get the answers and closure they need since the suspect decided to end his life before he could face them and answer them himself," Sheriff Dix said. "The suspect chose this path and because of his choices he has also carried his own family right along with him.”

The chase and crash shut down a busy road in Henry County during the Friday afternoon rush hour, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Henry County Police said that Greenwood Industrial Parkway at Highway 155 is shut down near Locust Grove and McDonough and for drivers to use alternate routes.

11Alive's SkyTracker flew over the scene, showing several police cruisers and another vehicle off the road in the grass.
