Man arrested after failed armed robbery

The man hid a hammer inside a bag and told a store employee it was a gun.

Officers in LaGrange were summoned to the Summit Store in the 200 block of Vernon Road after an attempted armed robbery just before 9 p.m. Sunday.

A store employee told officers that a male approached a clerk with a hammer wrapped in a bag, saying it was a gun and demanded money.

When the employee refused, the would-be robber ran off.

Officers found him a short time later on Alford Street and took him into custody. The suspect was identified as Ravon Woods.
