GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police charged a 40-year-old Barrow County man with homicide by vehicle, DUI, drug and other driving charges after a 37-year-old woman was killed in a wreck last Friday night.
Gwinnett Police said it happened at about 10:30 p.m. on Georgia 316 at Hurricane Trail Road in Gwinnett County.
According to police, Hall was driving his gold Chevrolet Malibu west on GA 316. Investigators said another driver - 19-year-old Lesly Jimenez from Athens - was going the same direction and slowed her maroon Toyota RAV4 because of traffic at the intersection. Hall, investigators said, did not. Police said he slammed into the back of Jimenez's vehicle, pushing it 200 feet into the intersection.
The impact of the crash left Hall's 37-year-old passenger, Alisha Williamson of Bethlehem, Georgia, with serious injuries. She was taken to the hospital, but later died a few days later on Jan. 14 from her injuries. Police said she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Jimenez and one of her two passengers received minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Hall, also received minor injuries.
Police arrested Hall once he was released from the hospital. Authorities initially charged the Bethlehem, Georgia man with driving under the influence, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving and following too closely. Authorities later added the homicide by vehicle charge after Williamson died.
Both vehicles were taken to Gwinnett County Police Headquarters for additional analysis.
