ATLANTA — A car drove onto a sidewalk, struck a man trying to get on an electric scooter, hit a tree and then hit a utility pole early Tuesday morning, according to Atlanta Police.
Witnesses told police they saw the car veer onto the sidewalk and hit the pedestrian near the intersection of Auburn Avenue and Piedmont Avenue in downtown Atlanta just after 1 a.m.
The driver then left the car on foot. Police said they are still working to locate the individual.
The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with injuries to his left leg, and is in stable condition, police said.
An investigation is ongoing.
