GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A Gwinnett County jury convicted a man on Friday in a 2020 deadly triple shooting and home invasion

The shooting happened on the afternoon of Nov. 21, 2020. Police were called to Creek Water Court, a residential area near Steve Reynolds Boulevard and Club Drive outside of Duluth.

The three victims in the shooting were identified by police as 45-year-old Eugene McClam of Lawrenceville, 33-year-old Stephen Finch of Arabi, and 64-year-old Robert Caverly of Lawrenceville.

When police arrived on scene, they found MClam with gunshot wounds on a neighbor's front porch, and he later died at the hospital. Investigators found Caverly's body inside his home near the front door and Finch dead in the garage.

During the investigation, police learned that an Uber driver had dropped off a man near the home before shots erupted. According to the Gwinnett DA's Office, Justice Lusk was seen leaving the home with a bookbag and a blanket as he tried to get a Lyft driver.

When the Lyft driver refused to give him a ride, the Gwinnett DA's Office said Lusk ran into the mud and woods nearby, and he eventually went to a home on Millstream Trail, where he hid the bookbag, blanket and other items in the crawl space.

A police K-9 officer was able to track down the items hidden in the crawl space, and investigators found an AK-47 assault rifle, a handgun, muddy clothes and shoes, and a large amount of methamphetamines and marijuana.

The following day, around 1 a.m., police got a call about a suspicious vehicle near the home on Millstream Trail. Police arrested Lusk and took him into custody.

During the investigation, Lusk told police he shot the three men because "he felt like his life was threatened," according to the DA's Office.

The Gwinnett DA's Office said Lusk claimed self-defense at his trial. A jury convicted Lusk on Friday.
