ATLANTA — A man was shot and killed during a robbery where his dog was taken from him Monday night, according to Atlanta Police.
On Feb. 5 after 8 p.m., Atlanta Police officers responded to a report of a person shot around the 800 block of Mitchell St. SW. According to police, medical personnel pronounced the man dead on scene after he had sustained a gunshot wound.
The investigation now reveals that 44-year-old Samuel Harris, also known as "JR," was targeted and robbed by a group of people. During this, Harris was fatally shot, and his dog Tequilla was stolen, police said.
During the overnight hours -- just a short distance away -- nearby streets were blocked off while police were in the area.
At this time, police department is requesting the public's assistance in obtaining any information related to the homicide.
