DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A man was killed Thursday afternoon in a shootout in a Stone Mountain neighborhood, police said.
Stone Mountain Police said a 26-year-old man was involved in a shootout along Abberley Way when a bullet struck him in the head. The man's brother rushed him to Nam Dae Mun Farmers Market down the road for help, but police said he was already dead.
DeKalb County Police Department officers said they were called to Abberley Way as well, and while in route, were flagged down by a person along Memorial Drive. The man said his vehicle had been shot up and so was his passenger. The passenger was the 26-year-old man, police said.
Authorities worked to collect evidence at both scenes. So far, information reveals that the brothers had been in a "verbal altercation with the suspects" at the Abberley Way, which led up to the shooting, according to investigations.
No one is in custody, authorities said.
