DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A man is dead following a shooting at a Family Dollar store, according to the DeKalb County Police Department on Thursday.
According to police, officers responded to a call about a person shot at the 7000 block of Covington Highway just before 4 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they found a 25-year-old man shot in his chest. Emergency Medical Services quickly transported him to a nearby hospital, but despite efforts, the man later died.
Investigators say the victim was seen speaking with the suspect in the parking lot of the store shortly before shots were fired. The victim's identity has not been released, and police have not disclosed any further details about the suspect or motive.
Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses as the investigation unfolds.
