ATLANTA — A man who had been on the run from the FBI since August 2023 for murder and a string of alleged armed robberies has now been arrested.
The agency released an update on Tuesday stating that Demarco Johnson was taken into custody and arrested in Atlanta.
11Alive previously reported that Johnson was wanted for an armored truck robbery in Tucker in February 2023 and another one in Snellville in March 2023. A federal arrest warrant was issued on Aug. 23, 2023, for him, and agents have been looking for the suspect ever since.
Johnson was wanted for conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, Hobbs Act robbery and possession of a firearm, according to the FBI.
The DeKalb County Police Department also said that Johnson had been wanted for a murder in its jurisdiction. He is accused of shooting and killing 20-year-old Malik Barron on Abberly Way in July 2023. The FBI confirmed this as well.
