ATLANTA — Singer and Atlanta native Mariah the Scientist was arrested on Wednesday after a woman claimed she attacked her at a bar back in March.
In addition to being a singer, Mariah the Scientist is also known for her relationship with Atlanta rapper Young Thug who is currently on trial in the ongoing YSL RICO case.
Police said the arrest stemmed from an incident on March 28 at Cavo Kitchen Cocktails, an Atlanta lounge located at 3186 Roswell Rd. NW.
A video report obtained from the Atlanta Police Department showed that a woman arrived at the police precinct on March 29 and told officers that Mariah the Scientist, whose real name is Mariah Buckles, had attacked her the night before while at the bar.
The victim told police she was unable to get a good look at the person since she did not have on her glasses, but later found out it was Buckles. She also said she never interacted with the singer and didn't know why she assaulted her.
According to the witness' statement, the victim claimed Mariah forcibly removed her wig and dragged her across the room, causing minor scratches to her feet.
Mariah the Scientist was booked into the Fulton County Jail on May 1 and charged with battery and simple battery. She was released on the same day.
Despite the arrest, she is scheduled to perform Friday and Saturday in Atlanta at the Tabernacle as part of her "To Be Eaten Alive" tour.
Young Thug reacted to the news on X, writing: "Free yo game mami."
